About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

To Provide Analysis and Sampling services for Chemical processes in Oil & Gas production.  Ensure effective and efficient laboratory support services are afforded for PDO with the aim to monitor and optimize PDO operations, safeguard personnel and installations whilst maintaining a high HSE and quality standard.

Education & Experience

•    High Technical College Diploma (or equivalent) in Analytical Chemistry/Chemical Technology. 
•    Assessed as competent in all laboratory activities and preferably working towards VQ Level 2 Prod Chem. Previous laboratory/field operations exposure would be advantageous.
•    A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Production Chemistry laboratory and field exposure activities and related quality and safety management.

Main Responsibilities

•    Adhere to PDO HSSE’s Management System to mitigate risks to personnel, property & the environment.
•    Maintain a high HSE and quality standard in all laboratory activities and during on-site sampling and analysis.
•    Raise & follow up on non-compliance/incident HSE reports wherever necessary.
•    Always maintain a high-quality standard of analytical work (e.g. follow procedures, maintain calibration schedules, check laboratory logbooks, housekeeping, etc.) in line with the ISO17025 standards.
•    Method validation and development
•    Acting laboratory supervisor as required
•    Foster HSE and Quality awareness amongst staff with due attention also given to facilities and environment.
•    Responsible for the provision of Sampling & Analysis services for oil, gas, water, solids and chemicals as per the Service Level Agreements, and non-routine requests.
•    Day-to-day operation of the laboratory location. Report all daily activities to laboratory supervisor.
•    Ensure incumbent tasks & targets are developed in line with responsibility and staff development. 
•    Execute the daily SLA (Service Level Agreement) and non-routine activities.
•    Manage chemicals & materials & equipment to guarantee continuous laboratory operations. 
•    Check & maintain inventories.
•    Maintain high QA /QC standards in the laboratory, as per ISO17025 requirements. 
•    Recording & Reporting of results to customers using LIMS Sample Manager, and captured in logbooks accordingly.
•    Advise customers on non-routine chemical and/or analytical questions/issues arises.
•    Provide on-the-job training of less experienced laboratory chemists. Guide less experience staff in their development.
•    Maintaining an efficient filing system.
•    Responsible for assigned analytical method/equipment.
•    Develop skills and competences required for the effective operations of equipment to ensure compliance with the Quality Management system.
•    Effectively use Third-party services to handle specific customer demands or specialist services - ensuring turn-around times & quality of results are within acceptable Customer service agreements.
