The Downhole Integrity Specialist will be responsible for helping to reduce drilling costs by ensuring the quality and integrity of all drill string and Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) components through the implementation and execution of Quality Plans, the training of Oxy office and field Drilling staff, managing contract quality auditors, and personnel oversight.
The QA/QC Downhole Integrity Specialist responsibilities include but not limited to:
Monitor drill string and downhole tool usage and performance through Business Unit (BU) office and field visits, data analysis, reviews, and other means. Maintain close, trusting, supportive relationships, which enable significant influence of BU drilling engineers, drill site managers, and other rig site personnel.
Monitor and evaluate performance of third-party drill string quality auditors and inspection companies.
Identify areas of potential improvement and take action to improve performance through personnel support, training, new technology, and other means.
Work with the business unit Directional Drilling Specialist to ensure contractual compliance of all downhole tool related contracts and drill string integrity work.
Carry out special projects as needed to develop capabilities, evaluate new technology, and make other improvements in drill string integrity.
Keep current with WWDC Standards, Best Practices, and Recommended Practices related to drill string integrity and downhole tool quality.
Maintaining drill string and BHA contractor performance metrics business unit.
Develop and deliver basic, advanced, and specialized drill string training courses for drilling engineers, drill site managers, and other Oxy drilling staff as required.
Monitor Open Wells data and NPT events related to drill string integrity and downhole tool failures and ensure data is complete, accurate, and useful - conduct failure investigations, root cause analysis and initiate and oversee implementation of corrective actions..
Minimum of 12 years’ experience in Contractor Drilling, Operator Drilling, Inspection, or drilling service company related to drill string or Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) components.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience related to drill string design, use, inspection, or integrity and minimum of 3 years’ experience in implementation and application of Quality Systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of drilling operations.
Expert knowledge of drill pipe and BHA components design, manufacture, inspection, and use.
Significant experience with land drilling operations.
Knowledge of safety principles, implementation techniques and program maintenance skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with other departments, management, government, field, and contract personnel.
Must have completed formal training in drill pipe and BHA component design, manufacture, inspection, and use delivered by an industry-recognized authority.
Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts.
Experience in international oil & gas operations.
ASNT Level II certification in MT, UT, and PT is desired.
Proficiency in API, ASNT, ASME, NACE and DS-1 Standards
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
