Job purpose

Execute the activities for service release & deployment management under delegated authority from N-4 service deployment & management, acting as owner of service release & deployment standards , by establishing and executing the plan, directing and controlling all the activities related to service release & deployment; in order to support Information Management & digital Transformation at OQ to ensure the continuity and efficiency of the business.

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop/refine/execute and maintain the procedures, tools, and templates for the system standard operating procedures including deployment and release management lifecycle.
  • Manage risks and resolve issues that affect scope schedule and quality of production operations and system enhancements
  • Perform forward planning of release cycles, production maintenance windows, system upgrades and other events and activities that impact the system environments
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
  • Communicate key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes
  • Contribute to the development and management of the System Maintenance and Operations plan, schedule and the operations procedures manual
  • Develop/contribute to the system release schedule and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors
  • Communicate and educate technical and business teams on the use of the procedures, tools, and templates to ensure smooth process execution
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and scheduled testing
  • Support day to day operation and optimization of system environments
  • Provide timely updates to weekly status and ad hoc reports
  • Participate in short- and long-term strategic planning of mandatory and optional infrastructure and application upgrade
  • Independently identifies, tests, and implements new technology and process improvements to both central and distributed/local computing environments throughout the organisation.
  • Managing services capacity planning and performance management activities.
  • Responsible for ensuring services are operating within budget.
  • Managing ongoing software and data distribution, support, training, operations, projects, maintenance, and managing knowledgeable contractors

External: Staffing specialized Contractors, Vendors & Suppliers

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, intensive computer screen use, sporadic visits to operation site.

Education requirements

Minimum Qualifications for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or related disciplines.

Language

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)
