Job purpose

Lead the activities and the team for Digital Business Planning,  under delegated authority from N-3 Digital Transformation (DX), as owner of Digital strategy for OQ, through:  (1) Lead Digital strategy, annual plan and budget development for OQ Digital, (2) Provide overall management and guidance for the projects relating to Digital solutions ensuring the Digital innovation scalability, (3)  Support P&C on the development of leading Digital expertise and talent especially in AI, Analytics, IoT, Mobility and Robotics; in order to support Information Management & digital Transformation at OQ and P&C stream to ensure the continuity and efficiency of the business.

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead Digital strategy development in collaboration with business lines/functions
  • Lead the annual plan and budget development for OQ Digital
  • Provide overall management and guidance for the projects relating to Digital solutions
  • Oversee the overall Digital architecture and ensure policies, processes and standards are enforced and refreshed
  • Accompany functions through Digital innovation adoption and scalability
  • Identify investment opportunities in Digital-related fields
  • Manage the development of a partnership framework with the major technology vendors
  • Ensure Digital achievements and announcements are communicated to the company
  • Develop a Digital talent strategy to ensure talent development and retention within OQ
  • Collaborate with OQ People & Culture on the development of leading Digital expertise and talent especially in AI, Analytics, IoT, Mobility and Robotics.

Key interactions

Internal: P&C, Assurance, F&S, Commercial, Downstream, Upstream, Project and Technology

External: Staffing specialized Contractors, Vendors & Suppliers

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, intensive computer screen use, sporadic visits to operation site.

Education requirements

Minimum Qualifications for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in in IT, Information Systems, computer science, Business or Engineering.

Master’s degree in computer science or a similar business related subject preferred

Language

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required), Arabic - Native (desirable)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

  • +7 years of Business, Engineering or Information Technology related experience with at least 5 years of relevant experience in strategy formulation, architecture development, financial analysis or strategic business planning
  • Working experience in Digital initiatives in Oil & Gas, energy or utilities field
  • Experience in managing vendors relationships
  • Very good Communication & Presentation skills
  • Industry experience and knowledge of digital trends in energy, O&G, and petrochemicals desirable
  • A strong entrepreneurial flair and commercial acumen
  • Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • A highly analytical and strategic thinker & Proficiency in M/S Office.
  • Ability to manage and direct activities of others in a multi-project environment
  • QA / QC Knowledge.
  • Ability to build, maintain and extend relationships across the organization
  • Contract Administration (Development / Review).
  • Ability to perform business and process analysis
  • Recognizes patterns and complexity in problems.
  • Extracts decomposition algorithms, and strategically plans how to execute programs by understanding how best to decompose to expose / protect against risk.
  • Understanding of full stack platform concepts and technologies
  • Defines product vision. Lays out product roadmap. Maps current requirements to industry trends, analyses competition trends.
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles
  • Guides new teams to adopt Agile, troubleshoots adoption efforts, and guide continuous improvement & provides training on Lean / Agile.
  • Actively embraces new methods and practices that increase efficiency and effectiveness.
