The Field QA/QC Inspector Lead will be responsible for supervising a team of Mechanical, Civil, and E&I Inspectors and ensure the quality of fabrications and/or purchased major equipment items meets the requirements of the OXY Oman Projects by supervising, monitoring, auditing, and witnessing all QA/QC activities at site.

 

The Field QA/QC Inspector Lead responsibilities include but not limited to:

 

 

 

  • Plan and organize Test/Inspection activities for Inspectors during the Fabrication and Installation stages at site in accordance with Company and Contract specifications and procedures.
  • Physical materials, equipment audits, and surveillance inspections, monitor daily field construction operations to ensure compliance with approved Quality Plans.
  • Identify any detrimental trends and advise field based Construction Supervisor and Contractor of concerns.
  • Raise NCR’s and report procedural compliance and deficiencies and assure closure of all NCRs.
  • Inspect and monitor Contractor welding procedures, performance and approve NDT activities.
  • Monitor and approve hydro testing activities, witness and endorse final QA/QC test packs.
  • Liaise with Contractor QC to ensure that any and all project or specification amendments are administered appropriately.
  • Review documentation received for Contractor procured material to ensure compliance with specification and company, project or industry standards.
  • Prepare weekly/Monthly QC status reports
  • Promote awareness of the Company Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality policies, and procedures in order to achieve fit-for-purpose Construction and Commissioning engineering.
  • Co-ordinate the communication of Best Practices by active participations on reviews and propose improvement on QA/QC standards and guidelines.
  • Review of contractor Mark-ups drawings and handover dossiers.
  • Promote training of fresh graduates / inexperienced Omanis to share and transfer knowledge and experiences..
  • Monitor contractor quality performance and adherence to specifications and relevant codes.
  • Ensure participation of MEI walk downs and report findings to the QA/QC Manager
  • Lead of a team of site Materials Inspectors and assure all materials and equipment arrived at site are meeting OXY specs and projects Purchase Order (PO) requirements. Prepare and issue progress reports as necessary with especial reference to quality levels achieved and, potential or actual deviations from the required standards.
  • Review and assess E&I Procedures, ITP’s.
  • Monitor contractor/sub-contractor procedures and practice for the Installation of  Equipment at Site
  • Ensure Oxy and Contractor inspectors’ availability during the witness testing and hold points as required by project ITPs.
  • Ensure Inspection of equipment items before, during and after installation in accordance with Project acceptance standards.
  • Liaise with 3rd Party inspection personnel, such as BV, DNV, as and when appropriate.
  • After Installation completion assist with the preparation of detailed evaluation reports of contractor performance.
  • As a Company Representative conform at all times to Company safety procedures and/or contractor safety procedures, whichever is the more stringent.
  • Observe and report contractor/sub-contractor safety deficiencies.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a QA/QC, Inspection, or Non Destructive Testing discipline in oil & gas / petrochemical industry with a minimum of 3 years in supervisory role OR College Diploma in Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a QA/QC, Inspection, or Non Destructive Testing discipline in oil & gas / petrochemical industry with a minimum of 3 years in supervisory role.
  • Good understanding of ISO, API, AWS and ASME Codes and Standards.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good PC skills.
