• Provides leadership for External Affairs, managing the team that provides the day-to-day operations of external communications and media relation and is accountable for all aspects of External Affairs' performance (HSSE, People Agenda and Financial Delivery), from planning to implementation and assurance.
• Responsible for executive communications, media relations and company publications.
• Ensures fast response to external issues and threats to corporate reputation.
• May serve as chief spokesman for the Corporation on a range of enterprise wide issues.
• Maintains close working relations with Investor Relations, Government Relations, Public Affairs leadership team and Strategic Planning to develop messaging and communications materials.
• Ensures coordination of external communications with embedded Public Affairs staff in business units and operating organizations across the enterprise.
• Monitors publications and media coverage to assess the potential positive and negative impact on BP and advises management on appropriate reactions, ensuring all emergence response plans and communications plans are developed, tested and implemented, designing and deploying mitigation plans as required.
• Leads strong and mutually beneficial relationships with external stakeholders, representing the organisation on all external affairs matters to ensure the optimal positioning of BP in public opinion.
• Builds organizational and leadership capability to ensure that the business is positioned to meet current and future business objectives.
• In line with continuous conversations, have regular honest and constructive dialogue with team members to support performance and career development.
• Ensures personal and team compliance with the BP's Code of Conduct and demonstrates a personal commitment to safety and exemplary leadership of BP's Leadership Expectations and Values & Behaviours.
• Assists in coordinating activities and programmes designed to engage with external stakeholders, such as the media, local community or sponsors, under guidance of more senior members of the team.
• Researches and drafts newsletters, articles and other information to influence external opinion of BP's operations, and supports crisis response strategies such as reactive statements (as applicable).
• Provides administrative support to team members and plans, organises and promotes meetings, presentations and requests for information from external stakeholders.
• Supports the development of recommendations for new programmes, activities or communications that reflect relevant local research and best practice.
• Builds and maintains effective relationships with external stakeholders, and liaises with internal functional teams as necessary to execute programmes/activities.

المهارات المطلوبة

• Open for Omani nationals only
• Bachelor degree
• 1 or 2 years of relevant professional experience in successfully creating and implementing social investment and community development projects, ideally in oil and gas sector
• Demonstrates experience in managing non-technical risk, key stakeholders and business relationships in a challenging environment
• Successful management of multiple projects at the same time
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present information in a clear and compelling manner to a variety of audiences and cultures
• Proven analytics and organizational skills with rigorous attention to detail
• Excellent judgement, problem solving and diplomacy skills
• A self-starter with a "can-do" attitude, able to work well under pressure, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances
• Ability to effectively create and manage budgets, projects and complex schedules
• A team player with the energy and enthusiasm to make a difference
• Understanding of international standards on responsible business practices (e.g. IFC Performance Standards on Social and Environmental Sustainability, Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights)
• Experience in designing and executing communication strategies in corporate social responsibility would be considered beneficial
• Ability to travel to field location.
