About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

•Develop integrated reservoir modeling studies following the ORP guidelines, and subject to a VAR process. 
•Provide support to ongoing Thermal EOR projects in PDO.
•Coach and develop technical capability in the young Reservoir Engineers.
•Share best practices within the HMC and PDO.
•FDP implementation / field development (well pick, well proposal, post implantation review) whenever it is required.
•Construct / maintain dynamic simulation models as required to support FDP implementation, understanding of field performance, and identifying new opportunities to bridge RF gap to TQ. 
•Maintain lifecycle hydrocarbon maturation strategy and plan for future development that include identification and maturation of CR opportunities, 
•Interpret the lab experiments for use in process modeling to create forecasts
•Use analytical thermal recovery techniques and numerical models to forecast the performance
•Use different upscaling methodologies for modelling thermal injection.

Education & Experience

•    University degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent technical subject.
•    A technical professional with a minimum of 12 years’ experience, out of which a minimum of 5 years in Thermal EOR. 
•    Must be self-motivated, take initiatives and a wish to develop and share skills.
•    To properly coach and mentor the less experienced reservoir engineers in your team, you should have 5+ years of experience in the dynamic reservoir modeling of thermal Enhanced Oil Recovery.
•    You will need to lead and motivate, be an optimist and opportunist, self-motivated with a lean mindset, aware of project cost and knowledge of CCI and be the one who has an intimate knowledge of their data.
•    Well-developed skills in your skill pool are essential as they will enable you to make a rapid and substantial contribution to the team.
•    You will have well developed inter-personal and presentation skills, be a good team player and enjoy working in small multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
•    Satisfies the competence profile of a JG3 reservoir engineer: “Skill” level in the following areas: Reservoir simulation, Development planning, fractured reservoirs, water flooding, well test analysis (Saphire), fluid characterization (PVTsim), Rock characterization and petrophysical core data evaluation (SCAL/Enable), Integrated Production System Modeling (HFPT/IPSM), Well Inflow and Outflow modeling (Prosper), Hydrocarbon Resource Maturation and Thermal EOR.
 

Main Responsibilities

•    Thermal EOR Development: RE input to integrated development and data gathering requirements
•    Reserves: Lead Thermal EOR RE for maturing Thermal EOR opportunities via integrated modelling work and integration with study teams
•    Contribute to Thermal EOR proposals and facilitate development of Pan PDO Thermal EOR implementation strategy
•    Make a major technical contribution to PDO’s production growth.
•    Work with an integrated team of geoscientists and petroleum/production engineers to deliver quality dynamic reservoir modelling and studies to define future field (re)development opportunities and reserves potential
•    Prepare field development plans and reserves submissions to shareholders.
•    As a Thermal EOR SME, ensure that reservoir engineering standards are maintained, and that best practices are implemented, in your own area of work and contribute into technical excellence across PDO. This will include participation in, and possibly leading, internal PDO project reviews (static and dynamic modelling reviews, internal VARs).
•    Sharing Thermal EOR best practices across PDO
•    Act as a GO-TO Reservoir Engineer in the domain of Thermal EOR with PDO
•    Coaching/mentoring of younger staff and feedback to team colleagues and leadership
•    Ensure alignment between Asset and Exploration w.r.t. potential development concepts for new discoveries, appropriate RFs, and timing.
•    Ensure quality well and reservoir data is in corporate data base
•    RE input to FSN’s, RRR’s, models / FDP updates
•    Integrated modelling
•    New well location and optimization candidate selection
•    RE input to production and injection well target setting and WRFM Strategies of Thermal projects in PDO Oil Directorate
•    Embedding and adhering to Development Planning Processes in own organization
•    Participating in Development Planning Process Forum
•    Sharing Development Planning PWR’s across PDO
•    Annual Program Build, ARPR for Cluster fields
•    RE input to generating and updating the Reservoir Management Plan
•    Short term and long-term production forecasting
•    Coaching/mentoring of younger staff and feedback to team colleagues and leadership
