The Senior Fiber Optic Technician will be responsible for the design installation, maintenance, and repair of the fiber optic network safely and efficiently throughout the full field development. The Fiber Optic Technician will have to locate faults and complete field repair of damaged fibers using fusion splice techniques, then complete verification tests on the repairs.

The  Senior Fiber Optic Technician responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

• Installation and commissioning of optical transmission and termination equipment.
• Preparing and maintaining records, diagrams and schematics of the Optical network.
• Assist in the preparation of Programmed Maintenance schedules.
• Determining solutions to problems and issues affecting the fiber optic systems from performing as designed.
• Work with other members of the department in different technologies and learn new technologies
• Responsible for all fiber optic repair tools, and test equipment.
• Responsible for specifying consumables and stock levels.

• College Diploma with a minimum of Minimum of 7 years of experience in maintaining network optical systems OR General Diploma certificate (secondary school) with a minimum of 10 years of experience in maintaining network optical systems.
• Fiber optic network cable splicing jointing and testing certificate
• Proficiency in the use of Fusion Splicer.
• Proficiency in the use of Optical Test Equipment.
• Must be a team player, Oil & gas experience desirable.
• Good Communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good PC skills.
• Self-starter deals well with ambiguity and multiple objectives.
