The Exploration Geoscience Advisor is one of three Advisors in Exploration who jointly provide Technical Assurance for projects carried out in Exploration in the framework of the PDO X-ORP. In addition, the Exploration Geoscience Advisors is expected to improve the technical capability amongst SG6-3 Explorers through coaching and through promotion and communication of global best practices, embedment of consistent workflows, and effective technology application. Each of the three Exploration Geoscience Advisors has his/her individual focus areas, which for the XCE position are the geophysical aspects of exploration projects.

The position requires strong technical and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate technical geophysical aspects to Exploration Geoscientists. Specifically: Degree or Postgraduate training (MSc./PhD) in Geology/Geophysics or related science with minimum of 12 years hands-on Exploration/Geophysics experience in a range of basins, Exploration plays, reservoirs (clastics and carbonates) and hydrocarbon types. Deep knowledge of nDI, and preferably the Landmark DecisionSpace suite of products. Strong Geophysical skills, with experience in QI and/or seismic processing. Well-rounded Geoscientist experienced in all aspects of play-based evaluation concepts and methods, with ability to rapidly analyze and identify critical elements in subsurface evaluation. Prior hands-on knowledge and experience on Oman geology is not a pre-requisite, but is definitely an advantage. Good understanding of the EP business. Intellectual integrity and honesty in exploration evaluation are key elements of this position. Strong in networking and stakeholder management, preferably through experiences in a Shell Non-Operated Venture. Self-starter with energy and initiative. Ability to coach (national) staff proactively, and find the right balance between assurance and coaching. Culturally sensitive. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Shell applicants are expected to pass the Shell TA2 assessment before joining
