what does this job opportunity offer?
PDO Hardcore Geophysics section consists of three teams; Operation, Processing and Quantitative Interpretation (QI). The teams are responsible for acquiring and processing of Geophysical data, and carrying out reservoir characterization for Exploration, Production assets and the Field Development Centre.
You will be assigned to the QI team. The QI team is responsible to carry out quantitative analysis of geophysical data, with the focus of extraction of reservoir properties from seismic data. Conventional attributes and inversion are among typical workflows used in the team.
Even though the focus of a QI geophysicist is to deliver the results by executing the activities in the QI team, the expectation is that you will have to be familiar with the activities undertaken by other teams.
During the first three years, you will attend training (Graduate Development Program) which will give you an opportunity to learn about different aspects of the oil and gas business. The training will be supplemented with job tasks in the team that will enable you to build the necessary skills that will allow you to work independently within a very short period of time.
The team executes in the order of 20 Exploration and Development related Reservoir Geophysics projects per annum. High quality results ensure continued demand for QI Geophysical services.
The job provides the opportunity for an imaginative geoscientist who wishes to make a strong technical contribution within the QI Geophysics team, Geophysics Department and Exploration as a whole.
Be familiar with and committed to the Geophysical Department's goals and strategies.
Interfaces: Shell R&D, Asset/Cluster subsurface staff, Academia.
