Job Description

• Manages the activities of the contractors atthedrillingsite. Performs supervisory functions and exercisesfinancialauthorityat the level established by Senior Management forthisposition. 
• Reviews the assigned drilling plan in detailanddiscusseswith Well Engineer/Senior Well Engineer.  Developsacompletepersonal understanding of the drilling plan and understandstheplan indetail and completely.  Verifies if required any aspectsoftheplan with the Well Engineer/Senior Well Engineerandrecommendstechnical changes where deemed necessary and prepares forthesite start up.
• Ensures that all precautions are taken to ensuretheSafetyEnvironmental and Health policies and regulations are coveredonthedrilling site.
• Reviews the field drilling data and relates toexperienceofdrilling similar well types.  Liaises with thecontractorsandissues work directions and instructions to drillingcontractor,mudcontractor, directional drilling contractors and wellloggingcontractorand other site contractors as required.
• Undertakes planning with contractors to ensurethatthedrilling program is completed on time and in budget and inasafemanner.  Ensures that logistics of contractors are wellplannedandsound and appropriate for the task in hand. 
• Stays abreast of current developments in theoildrillingindustry to ensure the use of latest techniques andtechnologyareavailable to the Company as required.
• Verifies that the performance of the site contractorsisasper the contractual arrangements and that time keeping, jobticketsarekept up to date and accurately reflect the performance on site.
• Checks and monitors that the site contractorsareadequatelyequipped and have scheduled the resourcing oftheirobligations adequately.
• Works inside the recognized policies practicesandestablishedmethodologies of drilling in Oman to ensuresmoothtransition of thedrilling program from start up to completion.
• Reports on regular basis to Well Engineer/SeniorWellEngineerprogress and ensures the OPENWELL receives all collecteddataon a dailybasis as required. Update End of Well Report in Daily Basis.
• Carries out periodic review of the drilling plan withtheWellEngineer/Senior Well Engineer to establish potentialcorrectiveactions,improvements and future actions based on the progressof theprogram to date.
• Develops the Company staff as directed.
• Undertakes the training of Omani nationals as directed by Management.
• Undertakes similar or related duties as requestedbytheManagement of the Company.
• Understand the hazards associated with the taskinvolvedandimplement controls in consultation with supervisors.
• Attend Tool Box Talks and ensure that hazardcontrolsareclearly understood. If not clarify with supervisor.
• Ensure that tools & equipment are checked priortousageand ensured that they are safe.
• Ensure that company HSE Policies and Procedures are followed.
• Understand the hazards associated with the taskinvolvedandimplement controls in consultation with supervisors.
• Ensure that safety is maintained in work places.
• Participate in all HSE Programs as and when called for.

Skills Required

• Degree such as B.SC. Or B.ENG in Engineering.
• Some understanding of fluid dynamics is required.
• Round 2 or equivalent certificate
• At least 5 years in practical oil drilling withexperienceofhaving worked all the jobs on a rig.
