To ensure smooth start-up of work units that are new to join PDO's fleet by assisting PDO and contractor staff in activities ranging from equipment specification, design, selection, quality assurance and operational readiness assurance (People, Equipment and Systems) and auditing.To act as Subject Matter Focal Point, providing in-depth expertise on all matters related to rig/ hoist/ utility equipment as well as start-up and commissioning.

Bachelor or Master of Engineering/ Science degree in an Engineering discipline.
ISO Lead auditor qualifications preferred
Have a minimum of 15 years experience out of which 10 years should have been spent working either as a Maintenance manager for a large drilling contractor or as a rig inspector / surveyor of mechanical , electrical and structural equipment on drilling and workover rigs for a rig inspection company
Prior experience of working with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to design and optimize new manufactured work unit designs required
Previous experience with audit, start-up and commissioning of drilling & workover rigs and well services units e.g. Frac and Hydraulic workover units required
Have a basic understanding of common drilling , workover and well intervention activities
Knowledgeable about both mechanical and electrical (SCR and AC-VFD) rigs
Knowledgeable about asset integrity and maintenance requirements of safety critical equipment on rigs
Knowledgeable about Human Factors Engineering (HFE) & Ergonomics and application of same to design of devices, equipment and systems for human use
In-depth knowledge of modern mechanised rig and hoist equipment and associated safety interlocks for pipe handling equipment and anti-collision systems
In-depth experience across a wide variety of work units , in conducting technical audits on work units addressing People , Equipment and Systems (like ModuSpec); prior experience with managing the upgrade of work units, good knowledge on standards and specifications related to drilling & workover rigs (PDO, Shell, API, IEC, ASME, ISO standards etc.).
Knowledgeable about Dropped Objects Prevention Scheme (DROPS) and RED zone management requirements
Knowledegable abour Hazardous Area Classification requirements of API RP 505 and EI Model Code of Safe Practice Part 15
Broad awareness of explosion protection principles and requirements for electrical equipment .
Familiarity with the minimum requirements and contents of HSE cases.
Familiarity with risk assessment techniques like HAZOP, HAZID, FMEA , FMECA , Bow-Ties preferred.
Familiarity with Quality management system requirements of ISO 9001 , API Q1 and API Q2 preferred.
