Job Description
• Oversee and provide daily support to supply chain function on all legal aspects from drafting suite of contracts, reviewing, analyzing and negotiating strategic contracts with comprehensive involvement in major and complex high value contracts (e.g. DBOOM, EPC, Drilling Rig, Master Services Agreement).
• Provide proactive support to human resources function on various employment matters to ensure compliance with policies and regulations with a primary approach to mitigate risk and provide legal training as deemed necessary.
• Investigate, review, prepare reports and recommendations on all HR and HSE matters, incidents and violations.
• Identifying and assessing legal risks and mitigations, and advising on procurement, labour, environmental, and other general Omani legal and regulatory matters.
• Track regulatory changes and industry trends impacting upstream operations; advise stakeholders proactively.
• Conduct workshop for internal stakeholders in connection with various matters on legal risks, compliance and best practices.
• Assist in applying and monitoring policies implementation and embracing a robust training compliance program to address anti-corruption, anti-bribery, conflict of interest, sanctions, and data privacy laws.
• Assist in providing recommendations on legal strategy for management of key issues and playing an active role in the development and implementation of legally compliant and commercially focused legal advice.
• Assist in managing and maintaining a good relationship with external counsels.
• Review, report and maintain up to date litigation records and tracker.
• Any other responsibilities as requested from time to time.
Skills Required
• Bachelor’s degree in law.
• Minimum of three (3) years of proven experience.
• Experience in upstream oil and gas industry is preferred.
• Good knowledge of upstream oil and gas legal framework, including EPSA, JOA, trespass agreement, lifting agreement and other framework agreements.
• Knowledge and understanding of Omani and English contract, financial and commercial laws.
• Knowledge and understanding of UK Bribery Act and Omani anti-bribery and corruption laws and regulations.
• Proven track record in drafting oil & gas agreements and managing regulatory compliance.
• Understanding of technical aspects in connection with upstream operations.
