Job purpose

Provide insights, thoughts and support on BD Projects (Deals Delivery & Upstream Business Intelligence); Co-lead BD and M&A projects & transactions that receive management approval to progress to detailed due diligence, through: (1) providing support managing the deals to final project execution. (2) Direct supervision of the due diligence process, the preparation of the transaction documents and the internal decision-making materials, (3) Support the Head of M&A in the commercial negotiations and getting the required approvals for deal finalization (Final Investment Decision).

 

The position will act in accordance with the OQEP’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as policies, guidelines and international standards.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

· Co-lead BD projects & Deals that receive management approval to progress to detailed technical, commercial and legal due diligence.

· Support managing transactions to final project execution. Direct supervision of the due diligence process, the preparation of the transaction documents and the internal decision-making material.

· Support the Head of M&A in commercial negotiations and obtaining required approvals for a deal finalization (Final Investment Decision).

· Responsible for deal handover post execution with the transfer documentation to appropriate line (Operated Assets, Exploration, JV or Project Maturation).

· Responsible for playing a leading role for acquisition and divestment deals in terms of deal structuring, negotiations and execution.

· Focal point for third party commercial and integrity evaluation (Consultants), and liaises with legal, financial, tax advisory.

· Liaising with economics team and ensure projects economical evaluation & financial modelling are conducted accordingly.

· Provide steer on economic and commercial parameters, and as required run sensitivities that shall fit the purpose of negotiation and evaluating investments.

· Ensure liaison with other OQEP departments as appropriate in relation to investment proposals, projects, technical, legal, economics, financing, tax, or other issues

· Responsible for the documentation of the investment evaluations.

· Provide feedback to management based on market and evaluation information to enable the organization to develop capabilities and strategic leverage for future projects.

· Participate in gathering and analysing market intelligence information for potential new projects and opportunities and maintaining up to date information on industry trends and competitors.

· Lead the input of all aspects of new investment proposals, including financial, economic, operational, commercial, legal and corporate governance.

· Maintain market intelligence, information on new opportunities, deals and maintain up-to-date information on industry trends and competitor analysis. Research and compile public domain information on companies and assets; and regularly follow up on upstream oil & gas market developments in Oman and internationally.

· Actively scout and source new investments opportunities in the upstream sector per OQEP Strategy.

· Prepare written analysis on potential new investment transactions per the company screening guidelines.

· Develop and maintain an active BD opportunity funnel (from sourcing to execution & handover). Supports the team in monitoring portfolio investments and new ventures opportunity funnel.

· Run screening economics and commercial evaluation of new opportunities

· Participate in the development of BD documentations (research papers, presentations, investment proposals) to support investment decisions.

· Responsible for the of delivery of “Project Investment Proposals” of BD opportunities.

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, computer screen use, sporadic visits to operation site, international travel when possible and needed.

Education requirements

 Bachelor’s degree in (Engineering, Sciences, Economics),

 MBA and/or CFA although not required will be treated as a plus

Language

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

 

  • Total progressive experience minimum +12 years.
  • At least 7+ years of relevant experience in similar role (Deal Delivery & Business Development) for Oil & Gas or investment companies.
  • Experienced in resource control, contract management and general management.

·        Development process & should be able to work collaboratively with all involved.

·        Excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural sensitivity.

·        Computer literate with expertise in MS Office.
