Job purpose Execute the activities for telecom engineering under delegated authority from TL telecoms management, acting as owner of telecom engineering standards, by establishing and executing the plan, directing and controlling all the activities related to telecommunication engineering; in order to support Information Management & digital Transformation at OQ to ensure the continuity and efficiency of the business. The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives |
Main tasks and responsibilities - Operate Telecommunication Technologies (SDH \ DWDM), telecommunication nodes
- Wireless Technologies (in the field), Tetra, Communication Towers, Microwave, Satellite (VSAT), MicroGSM stations.
- Hotlines, emergency calling and SMS\Alerting systems
- Operate FOC network assets, (over 2500Kms in Oman only for OQ Gas Networks)
- Telecom NOC monitoring, 24h emergency response for systems failures.
- Plan with ISP for links, deployment FOC, location path (Leased Lines P2P, international LL, PRI\BRI etc.)
- Network Aggregators and Accelerators (Riverbed WAN Accelerator, others.)
- Preventative maintenance on FOC and telecom nodes (all Oman, over 100 sites – OQ Gas Networks, EP fields (Gas plants, drilling rigs, offshore platforms)
- Future 4G\5G Grid Networks, wireless IOT
- Acts as single point of contact for all technical issues with project mangers on projects.
- Adheres to Technology Standards.
- Assists Project Manager in executing Project, preparing technical Scope, Plans, Schedules and Cost Estimates.
- Assists in the job walkdowns and handoffs.
- Attends technical training on emerging technologies and their applications to telecommunications' systems.
- Coordinates project meeting requests with other team members as appropriate.
- Creates Bill of Material.
- Ensures completion of drawings, related design documentation.
- Prepares status reports and project completion reports as needed for the project.
- Promotes the value of safety through conduct and communications.
- Provides detailed project engineering.
- Takes responsibility to ensure the safety of work environment and ensures Construction Job Packages include adequate site safety information.
- Resolves problems telecommunication.

Education requirements | Minimum Qualifications for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in information systems, telecommunication, computer science or related disciplines. |

- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in similar role, in a large oil industry industrial organisation.
| - Telecommunications systems background/knowledge/experience
- MS/Excel, Visio and Adobe Pro knowledge/experience
- MicroStation knowledge/experience
- Demonstration of knowledge will be desired in telecommunication area
- Recognized industry credentials and/or certifications is preferred
- Competency in planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
- Skill in making recommendations based on relevant expertise as needed to perform at the job level
