Job purpose Execute the activities for network management under delegated authority from N-4 network management, acting as owner of network management standards , by establishing and executing the plan, directing and controlling all the activities related to network management; in order to support Information Management & digital Transformation at OQ to ensure the continuity and efficiency of the business. The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives |
Main tasks and responsibilities - Installs, configures, troubleshoots, maintains and assists in the use of various network servers and server software applications, including but not limited to NOS (Network Operating System), gateways, firewalls, content filters, network switches, routers, wireless, telecommunication, and security technologies;
- Solves problems related to network servers, computer workstations, networking equipment, software, cabling system and other peripheral equipment;
- Installs, repairs, make adjustments, provide preventative maintenance, and servicing for network equipment.
- Assists in inventories of equipment.
- Prepares, updates and maintains documentation.
- Assists in performing security and maintenance tasks associated with the District network technologies, LAN and WAN as required.
- Connects network servers workstations and printers to various networking systems;
- Installs and diagnoses cabling systems for computer networks;
- Maintains log of reported equipment malfunctions, and assists with scheduling of service calls.
- Designs and implements networking solutions to meet the needs of the business;
- Communicates and coordinates with school, administrative and departmental staff members to solve problems.
- Performs informal, on-site training/instruction on use of hardware, software and networking systems as requested.
- Performs administrative work and prepares reports as required.
- Participates in District in-service programs and meetings as required; serves as District inspector for major Technology infrastructure installations;
- Work with cabling team on network cable installation projects and systems; performs other related duties as required.

Education requirements | Minimum Qualifications for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or related disciplines. |

- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in similar role, in a large oil industry industrial organisation.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) credential or CompTIA's Network+ is preferred
| - Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques, of personal computer hardware and software, network operating systems and security software, and of performance monitoring and capacity management tools.
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize Active Directory tools and structure.
- Skill in verbal and written communication, troubleshooting and repairing IT related hardware and software, and in translating technical and industry terms into non-technical language.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve network problems, to train others, and oversee the work of others.
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as to recognize technical limitations and seek competent assistance when needed.
