Job purpose

To provide robust reservoir engineering duties to the subsurface development department in areas of field development, planning and well & reservoir management. Work with multi-disciplinary team to apply reservoir-engineering practices to reservoir management, well test design and analysis, reservoir simulation, reserves evaluation & estimation.

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Conduct workflows pertaining to reserves maturation, well testing and field development planning
• Conduct reservoir simulations and update reservoir management strategies
• Specifically monitor a range of activities, including well surveillance, fluid sampling, well testing and completion operations.
• Analyze and interpret information from the field using suitable reservoir engineering tools such as well test evaluation programs or reservoir simulation software for making recommendations aiming at optimizing production and supporting field development
• Contribute in monthly production planning and reservoir surveillance planning as required
• Design and follow up of the execution of Well Test programs
• Perform fluid characterization studies for understanding fluid distribution in the field
• Perform analysis and interpretation of RFT / MDT data as required
• Participate in integrated field studies for maturing hydrocarbon resources
• Evaluate well/reservoir performance and recommend production improvement opportunities
• Provide RE input to business planning, reserve evaluation and well proposals
• Participate in integrated field studies
• Work with other disciplines on hydrocarbon maturation to further develop the asset
• Coach and mentor early career professionals

Education requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)  Arabic - Native (desirable)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Reservoir Engineering within Oil & Gas industry
• Proficiency in industry standard reservoir engineering packages such as Kappa Saphire, OFM, Eclipse
• Experience with reservoir management
• Experience with reservoir simulation
• Good understanding of production operations and completion procedures
• Experience in tight gas reservoirs is a “plus”
• Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teamrole .

• Leading multidisciplinary integrated teams and contribution to exploration opportunity risking and ranking.
• Has participated or contributed to technical reviews, audits and preparation of Field Development Plans
• Self-starter with the ability to multi task while maintaining priorities
