About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

A uniformed position that requires co-ordination and management of the operational activities of the Fire and Rescue Service within the designated risk area across PDO sites. The Station Commander reports to the PDO Chief Fire Officer.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor degree with 3 year experience in Fire Safety Engineering or Diploma with minimum 6 years’ experience in Fire Safety Engineering (or relevant  )  
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as leading fire fighter.
• Leadership skills, ability to seize up the fire emergencies and take appropriate actions fighting fires and rescue
   

Main Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment

• To ensure, as far as is reasonably practical, the Health & Safety and Welfare of all personnel under their command (including Civilian Staff and other visitors) in line with the guidance given in Brigade Health and Safety Orders.

Operational Efficiency

• To attend and take command of such operational incidents as directed and to ensure that both material and personnel resources are used to the maximum advantage.
• Training
• To undertake, as directed by the Station Officer, any of the responsibilities regarding training which are detailed in the Job Description for a Station Officer (Operational)
• Management of personnel and resources
• To undertake as directed by the Station Officer any of the responsibilities regarding management of personnel and resources which are detailed in the Job Description for a Station Officer (Operational)
• To promote good staff relations at all times.
• To ensure morale of Watch personnel is maintained at the highest level and when necessary to take all possible actions to rectify or remove the causes of poor morale.
• To monitor standards of dress, discipline and general demeanor of the Watch personnel to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
• To ensure that the public image of the Fire Service is maintained at the highest level at all times and to expose and exploit all avenues of public relations open to him to promote the image of the Fire Service whenever and wherever he is able, and in this connection encourage a like response from all personnel under his command.

Administration

• To undertake as directed by the Station Officer any of the responsibilities regarding Administration which are detailed in the Job Description for a Station Officer (Operational)

Fire safety

• To undertake as directed by the Senior Aviation Fire Officer/Station Officer any of the responsibilities regarding Fire Safety which are detailed in the Job Description for a Station Officer (Operational).
