About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.
 

Purpose of the Job

To provide an effective relationship with host communities to maximize social performance value and maintain a positive company image to enhance PDO reputation. Foster a greater understanding of the community‘s changing demography and requirements in proposing and implementing Community Development and  Social Investment programs. To maximize social performance value  advice the relevance of such programs to the values and needs of these communities. Maintain respectful relationship with stakeholders and support the host communities so as to manage effective communication and enhance reputation  and Maximize In Country Value 
  


 

Education & Experience

  • University Degree in social Sciences, Humanities: Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Commerce & Economics, Marketing, Management and Law or equivalent university degree. 
  • Minimum of 4 years’ work experience in the area of community relations, social investment, or other people issues
     

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage PDO’s social performance within the area including identification of negative or positive social impacts from PDO’s projects and assets into communities, and mitigation plans and SP projects to enhance PDO presence.
  • To facilitate by means of periodical surveys and in collaboration with the local Walis, community representatives, relevant parties in PDO, assessments of community requirements and preparation of community development plans. 
  • Proactively propose to EVCN/S management long term sustainable PDO Community Relations programmes. 
  • Coordinate development programmes and projects at community level with representatives of related PDO desciplines and other partners; and ensure provision of adequate technical support to communities for effective implementation of community plans including the HSE awareness and compliance 
  • Monitor projects implementation and evaluate short term output and long term outcomes of Community Relations programmes and initiatives in the area and propose improvements.  
  • Identify new ways for dealing with long term legacies based on feedback from internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Work with the asset teams and other relevant parties to ensure on time startup and delivery of PDO oil and gas projects and operations. 
  • Ensure speedy investigation and settlement on all claims arising from PDO operations in the area.
  • Work with concerned government authorities, industrial relations and other functions to respond to incidents of local unrests and labour action to ensure continuity of the business and safeguard PDO’s long term reputation. 
  • Manage relations and network with various community groups and influential community leaders and contacts and be abreast of the latest situations in the area by proactive visits.
