About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.
 

Purpose of the Job

The role offers competitive advantage for Finance directorate by leading Operational Excellence agenda across directorate that ensure the directorate is fit for the future. This person works closely with the Finance Director(FD), FD Leadership Team and CFDHs to foster a directorate culture that drives Operational Excellence results through people, process innovation, new ways of working and other dimensions. The FEM works with business champions to grow and sustain Lean/CI programs in close integration with corporate mandate. The FEM is also leading a number of FD/PDO strategic initiatives such as Knowledge Management, PDO Record Management Program, Corporate Management Framework and system (CMS). FEM leads project management office, business planning/FD scorecard and key strategic planning activities for finance directorate. As a member of the finance directorate leadership team (FDLT), the incumbent drives strategic direction including external benchmarks activities. The FEM is also  responsible for development of FEM staff and actively support the development of wider finance community on critical future skills.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, or  Accounting Degree or Operations Management or Behavioral Psychology or equivalent.
  • Certified LP/Black Belt or Master Black Belt in Lean and/or Six Sigma is a bonus.
  • Extensive process improvement experience in continuous improvement, process re-engineering  and project management, including managing and motivating a team of diverse professionals in a multi-national environment , typically 12 years of experience
  • Ability to drive results through analytics, continuous improvement and visible leadership
  • Change management experience (led at least 5 major initiatives that require substantial change in how work is performed)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, people management and influencing skills, with evidence of driving change initiatives at the senior level
  • Requires proven leadership capabilities with excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrates ability to interact effectively and persuasively with all levels in the organization  
  • Must work with a high degree of autonomy and manage multiple priorities while delivering excellent results. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) will be an added advantage
  • SAP implementation experience will be an added advantage
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SQL)
  • Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written. 

Main Responsibilities

Leadership 

  • Effective and pro-active member of the Finance Directorate (FD) Leadership Team. Build commitment and ensure delivery towards achieving the FD vision and strategy. Ensure provision of effective support to the PDO finance directorate to achieve its objectives.   
  • Responsible for the effective integration between Finance and C&P to drive FD strategic direction and goals.
  • Effectively lead the FEM team, with a strong focus on achieving the common goals. 
  • Provide recommendations to the Finance Director for the organizational model of the Finance Directorate taking into account external benchmarking exercises (Hackett) and stakeholders feedback.  
  • Functional accountability (Corporate Functional Discipline Head) for finance operations excellence activities.

Business Partnering

  • Ensure core Finance staff are recognized as highly valued business partners: provide specialized consultation and support with a focus to deliver value and reducing waste; ensure a thorough understanding of business drivers, and establish effective relationships with stakeholders

Directorate Strategy, Planning, KPIs and Scorecards

  • Conceptualize and drive strategy development for finance directorate (Finance & CP) including  long term roadmaps, breaking down it into simple and tangible goals/KPIs as well as ensuring alignment with PDO corporate vision taking into account external environment.

Project Management Office (PMO)

  • Act as the principal leader for strategic transformation initiatives in FD and is ultimately accountable for the long-term viability and sustainment of the program.     
  • Develop and Oversee the PMO team and provide strategic and operational direction/support to the finance transformation projects including covering governance, resource & benefit management and risk management during project life cycle including managing DRBs and track close out of key action items.

External Focus 

  • Drive external focus and best practices to impart efficiency, effectiveness and user experience that enable finance directorate delivering greater value to stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement

  • Responsible for building and maintaining an Operational Excellence (OE) culture that enable futuristic finance function.
  • Drive and lead continuous improvement agenda and build a Lean & CI capability and culture within finance directorate in collaboration with corporate lean/CI  

Change Leadership

  • Responsible for energizing leaders who will be leading and implementing FD transformation agenda across diverse functional areas. 

Information Management

  • Conceptualize and drive FD information management strategies to deliver efficiencies and effectiveness across finance directorate

Capability Development/Future Skills

  • Conceptualize and drive future ways of working across directorate 
  • Drive culture Transformation agenda to enable staff to adopt the new away of working and act in an agile manner. 
  • Impart future skills across finance directorate by engaging external consultants and firms, internal SMEs and various international professional bodies.

Key Challenges

  • Manage multiple interfaces between Finance, C&P, Projects and Asset Teams in a large mature organization through effective stakeholder management, and be recognized as a valued business partner.
  • Play a key role to make a difference and to structure, drive and translate the Finance vision into actions, business plans and business improvements.
