Purpose of the Job

Seismic Interpreter to carry out fully integrated reservoir interpretations and coordinate HC maturation, Well planning and Well and Reservoir Management activities in a number of oil and gas fields. The job entails extensive use of QI information to identify flank appraisal opportunities and sweet spots in the reservoir.

Education & Experience

-    BSc. degree in Geophysics, Geology or equivalent. Minimum 10 years of industry experience in seismic interpretation, of which at least 5 should be in Gas/Oil Production environment.
-    competent seismic interpreter with knowledge of other PE disciplines, particularly production geology. Good track record in field development planning, project coordination and portfolio management. Skills in QI and inversion modeling are considered an advantage for this position.
-    Knowledge of reservoir property modeling, well planning & well operations, Well and Reservoir Management. Proficient in the use of Petrel (or equivalent software) for seismic interpretation purposes.
-    Good leadership & behaviour skills; experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams; strong team player; 
-    Effective communicator, ability to coach / mentor younger staff and ability to think beyond geosciences discipline 
 

Main Responsibilities

Portfolio: 
•    The remit of the Senior Production Seismologist is to screen planned well trajectories in support of well planning activities and to identify opportunities for improved structural interpretation and reservoir characterization. The position may provide coaching to junior geoscientists involved in seismic interpretation and should scope seismic improvement activities in conjunction with the Geophysics department. The PS will also carry out detailed interpretations and incorporate relevant aspects of other disciplines, principally production geology, in order to deliver and maintain input into reservoir models. Particular emphasis is on the generation of appraisal strategies to generate and convert Contingent Resources. The position will also entail the identification of opportunities for enhancing application of subsurface technology to de-risk HC maturation opportunities and improve reservoir production
•    

Performance:
•    In conjunction with PDO’s study center carry out reservoir structure and property mapping to high technical standards and incorporate relevant aspects of other disciplines to define integrated (re)development opportunities and assess reserves potential
•    Provide geophysical input into static models of oil accumulations for reasons of appraisal strategy and well planning. Identify and propose reservoir appraisal and re-development opportunities that are based on a range of options that may include IOR/EOR
•    Identify areas where the processing or acquisition of geophysical information would reduce uncertainties; support or design / contribute to appropriate geophysical surface and in-well data acquisition and interpretation programs
•    Identify opportunities for enhancing the application of new technologies to improve hydrocarbon maturation and production
•    As the most senior seismic interpreter in the team develop discipline activities with regard to planning of seismic projects portfolio and application of new technology and processes
•    Coach junior geoscientists

Process: 
•    Team member of a multi disciplinary asset or study team. Coordinator for HC maturation and well planning activities in a number of fields. Participate in discipline activities in order to enhance sustainable production seismology capabilities. 

Planning: 
•    Prepare comprehensive documentation, presentations and workshops related to specific business plans, study work scopes or discipline content. Coordinate business plan for a number of fields.

People:
•    Provide technical coaching, ranging from hands on technical support to career mentoring, to peer challenge and QA/QC of staff work outside of your immediate team. Coordinate a team of technical contributors.
