About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

Experienced Petrophysicist to provide petrophysical input to an asset team in support of Development Planning, New Oil activities, Well and Reservoir Management, to provide assurance of integrated petrophysical deliverables and to coach fellow petrophysicists.

Education & Experience

•    University degree in Science or Engineering. 
•    A minimum of 10-12 years relevant experience
•    Skill in all core petrophysical competence areas with application to operational Petrophysics, petrophysical studies such as Integrated Reservoir Modelling (IRM), uncertainty management, value of information (VOI), Competitive Scoping, Field Development Planning and Well and Reservoir management.
•    Demonstrable track record in 
        - Operational Petrophysics (open hole and cased hole) 
        - Integrated PP studies and solid understanding of the deliverables of the other disciplines
        - Understanding of all Petrophysical related health and safety aspects, the opportunity realization process, and the integrated reservoir modelling process
        - Generating and executing field development plans
        - Project Management and Assurance of integrated petrophysical deliverables
        - Working in multi-disciplinary PE teams
        - Coaching and a wish to develop and share skills
•    Demonstrable drive, enthusiasm and can-do attitude, an open mind

Main Responsibilities

Development Planning
?    Work in an integrated team of geoscientists and petroleum / production engineers to deliver robust studies to define future field development opportunities and reserves potential. 
?    Generate and or update a robust petrophysical model for input into the IRM workflow. 
?    Implement development activities sanctioned by FDP’s / Studies.
?    Participate in the review of reservoir and well performance / development against plan.
?    Assure fit-for-purpose data acquisition using Competitive Scoping
?    Evaluate the use of new technology as part of future FDPs. 
New Oil
?    Contribute to and provide assurance of Well Proposals
?    Provide support to Rig Operations
?    Evaluate and Manage Data
?    Manage the interface with the data gathering contractors
Well and Reservoir Management
?    Own, execute, and track reservoir management and surveillance plans and activities under the umbrella of the Field Development & Management Strategy, aimed at full life-cycle field development, reservoir management and scope maturation.
1.    Ensure proper use and management of the data.
2.    Ensure cost-effective logging programs and utilisation of team resources, clearly defined objectives, minimise scope change and look for innovative ways of minimising costs without compromising objectives and while maximizing value.
3.    Evaluate cased-hole data for well performance optimization, well integrity, and reservoir performance. 
4.    Provide operational support for surveillance operations.
?    Participate in the review of reservoir and well performance / development against plan.
?    Work with surveillance engineers and geoscientists to identify & quantify opportunities for maximising production from developed and undeveloped reserves.
Performance    
?    Deliver technical excellence in integrated, operational petrophysics.
?    Coach and mentor less experienced staff, and act as a role model for them.
?    Work in an integrated team of geoscientists and petroleum / production engineers. 
?    Carry out or provide input to integrated PP studies, fully utilizing available data including production data 
?    Identify technology requirements and plan and evaluate the testing of new tools and techniques.
?    Participate in the PDO petrophysical community to share best practices, assist in peer assists, technical reviews and/or value assurance reviews across the company.
?    Contribute to activities, together with the PP discipline head, to review and improve the standards and processes for the PP discipline.
?    Run operational weekend duties as per duty rota
Process    
•Team member of a multi disciplinary study team. Leading the PDO IRM PP SME network •    
Planning
Deliver fit-for-purpose documentation for reporting out technical results. 
People    Provide technical coaching, ranging from hands on technical support to career mentoring, to peer challenge and QA/QC of staff work outside of your immediate team. Possibly coordinate a team of technical contributors.
