Role Purpose
Champion the well-being of OLNG workforce by addressing and closing the gaps in worker welfare including temporary and permanent accommodation and other physical assets by establishing codes of practice, standards, and procedures for welfare-oriented designs to ensure achievement of top-tier worker welfare.
Roles and Responsibilities
Worker Welfare Program Management:
• Develop, implement, and manage worker welfare programs and policies in accordance with OLNG standards and Oman regulations
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and propose improvements as and when needed
• Collaborate actively with OLNG Occupational Health team to review monthly inspection reports, analyse gaps, violations for further investigation and gap closure
• Define clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the worker welfare program
Worker Accommodations:
• Oversee worker accommodations and facilities to ensure they meet safety and quality standards
• Coordinate with OLNG Occupational Hygienist to address any issues related to worker housing, food services, and recreational facilities
• Participate and provide inputs in Welfare Committee meetings across all forms of accommodation
Contractor Welfare Management:
• Review and assess contractor proposals and agreements to ensure that worker welfare requirements are clearly defined and met
• Collaborate with contracting and legal teams to incorporate worker welfare clauses into contracts and agreements
• Conduct regular audits and assessments of contractor compliance with worker welfare standards
• Develop and implement programs to support the welfare of contractors' employees, ensuring they receive similar benefits and care as regular employees
• Collaborate with contractors to ensure compliance with worker welfare standards and regulations
• Actively participate in the contracting process to evaluate and ensure that contractors have adequate worker welfare measures in place
• Establish and maintain an overview of contracted activities with ‘high’ Welfare risk
Communication and Reporting:
• Communicate worker welfare policies, procedures, and updates to all employees and contractors
• Prepare monthly dashboards relating to camp inspections. Identify common themes for critical item violations, camps that are rated ‘red’ etc.
• Prepare regular reports and present findings to senior management/committee regarding worker welfare performance and improvements
Miscellaneous Tasks:
• Ensure workers are trained in emergency procedures and drills conducted as required
• Develop and implement programs to support the mental and emotional well-being of workers
• Continuously seek opportunities to enhance worker welfare practices, considering industry best practices and emerging trends
Challenges
• Stay up to date with evolving regulations and standards, adjusting the welfare program as necessary
• Ensure that the welfare programs cater to the diverse needs of multi-cultural workforce
• Ensure active participation and engagement of workers in the welfare programs
Qualifications, experience and working conditions
· Graduate Degree in Health Science, Health Safety, and Environment (HSE), Occupational Health, or equivalent field
· Minimum 3 years’ experience
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Office based role with 5 workdays a week (Sunday to Thursday)
