About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

•    To provide comprehensive Financial and Business Assurance Services to the Nimr Wells organisation and act as custodian of the financial reporting process as required by the Finance Directorate.
•    For contracts used on company-owned work units in Nimr, develop and implement Contracting Strategies that drive Personal Health and Safety, Wells Process Safety and Environmental Protection Standards, in compliance with PDO’s HSE Management System as outlined, PDO’s Contracting and Procurement Standards as outlined CP-122-HSE Manual and CP-129, Contracting and Procurement - CoP (including all subordinate Standards to meet company objectives and production targets

•    To support the In-Sourcing organisation in ensuring safe and efficient Well Delivery operations on company-owned rigs and hoists in the Nimr cluster

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geosciences, Business discipline or equivalent.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in well engineering managing rigs/hoists operations, logistics/business support and contracts & procurements including a minimum of 4 years as a Drilling Superintendent and/or a leadership / management position.

Main Responsibilities


•    For the Nimr Wells organization, define Contracting Strategies that drive Personal Health and Safety, Wells Process Safety and Environmental Protection Standards, in compliance with PDO’s HSE Management System as outlined in CP-122-HSE Manual (and subordinate Standards) as well as PDO’s Contracting and Procurement Standards as outlined in CP-129, Contracting and Procurement - CoP (and subordinate Standards, e.g. PR-1171, Contract HSE Management)
•    Define strategies for Supply Chain Management that ensure that services and materials are available at commercially optimum conditions and maximizing In-Country Value (ICV) to meet company objectives
•    Assure compliance of all Contract Management and Finance Management activities with PDO Standards and legal requirements
•    Through contracting strategies for Nimr Wells organization, drive efficiency, performance and the use of new technologies to facilitate the delivery of wells that achieve the company’s business objectives and production targets.
•    Lead the annual Business and Financial Planning Processes for the Nimr Wells organization, ensuring that short, medium and long-term aspirations and goals are addressed.
•    Lead the management of the Asset Register (Tariffing) ensuring that equipment is appropriate, replaced when due and Return on Investment is realized.
•    Drive the utilization of all available performance improvement and monitoring tools to monitor contract compliance and initiate and implement sustained business improvement.
•    Support the monitoring and benchmarking of performance against set objectives and industry performance to validate the In-Sourcing Model
•    Support the execution of operations on company-owned rigs and hoists in a safe manner and in compliance with Personal Health and Safety, Wells Process Safety and Environmental Protection Standards, as outlined in CP-122-HSE Manual and subordinate Standards to meet company objectives and production targets.
•    To sSupport managing the WE Nimr operations as a commercially and organizationally ring-fenced business unit
•    To sSupport managing the development, implementation and assurance of systems and processes which are designed to guarantee that company-owned equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with appropriate company and industry standards
•    Self-assure own and assigned team’s deliverables to ensure that they are fit-for-purpose, meet company standards and are of the required quality

Challenges 
•    To develop fit-for purpose contracting strategies for the Nimr Wells organization that maximize value to PDO
•    To assure full compliance of all Nimr (IS) contracts due to the uniqueness and complexity of the contracts within UWD (asset integrity maintenance and manpower contract)
•    To take full charge of process ownership of Opex, ensuring consistency in standards of application between the Asset team and Corporate Finance
