About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

•    Lead the petrophysics and geomechanics community in PDO, promoting and enabling petrophysics and geomechanics technical and operational excellence.   
•    TA1 for Petrophysics & Geomechanics
•    Corporate process owner for Well & Reservoir Surveillance.  
 

Education & Experience

•    Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Physics, or equivalent science subject with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in PE.
•    Strong leadership skills; experience effectively leading multidisciplinary.
•    Demonstrates personnel and company HSE commitment and rive toward technical excellence
•    Must be recognised as a technical expert within the Petrophysics discipline by the community or Shell.
•    At least Technical Authority level 2 (accredited)
•    Must have proven record of leading change and/or managing risk that have contributed to business success. Experience with lean and continues improvement management project. 
•    Has a passion for developing staff and improving the standard of PP/GM work
•    Effective communicator, experienced & effective coach/mentor, strategic thinker & change agent.
 

Main Responsibilities

•    HSSE:
o    Demonstrate and actively promote leadership commitment to HSSE.
o    Ensure Compliance to relevant (Discipline related - Petrophysics & Geomechanics) DEPs through WPT, Logging Programes and DCAF controls
o    Manage staff compliance with HSSE policy and guidelines.
•    Deliver the business:
o    Define & maintain corporate standards for PP/GM standards and Well & Reservoir Surveillance, and report on compliance.
o    As PDO (TA1) Technical Authority for Petrophysics & Geomechanics, assure the quality and integrity of petrophysics discipline technical work across Hydrocarbon Maturation, Well & Reservoir Management, & Well Delivery.
o    Ensure Petrophysics/Geomechanics DAM (as per DCAF) is up-to-date and TA2's have the right competencies to carry out the assurance of the relevant DCAF deliverables.
o    Preparation of annual audit plan and participation in functional audits accordingly.
o    Participate in technical reviews and peer assist within PDO, and globally.
•    Manage Change:
o    Define & manage discipline and process risks and adopt business strategy to mitigate risks.
o    Define and operate function’s and discipline's strategies and plans with respect to accountability, tools, standards, guidelines, technology, people, skills & competence, knowledge sharing and discipline culture.
o    Define and operate strategies and plans with respect to improve the Well & Reservoir Surveillance process.
o    Define and deliver discipline functional improvements across Shell companies (globally and regionally) through participation in global and regional discipline leadership teams.
o    Define, develop and implement new technologies to deliver improved production or reduced costs.


•    Develop Staff:
o    Lead the petrophysics/geomechanics community in PDO.
o    Define the discipline technical capability (numbers & competences) required to meet PDO's business needs, in the short and long term.

o    Manage the recruitment, development and succession of discipline resources, to meet PDO's short & long term requirements in terms of Omanisation and sustaining/developing the required capability to meet business objectives.
o    Manage competence assessment of discipline staff.
o    Promote best practices and knowledge sharing to deliver improved production or reduced costs.


•    Contracts:
o    Pro-active management of logging and core analysis contractors, through Service Quality Meetings, Business Performance Reviews, technical HSE/audits, etc.
o    Support and steer technical aspects of contract negotiations.
