الوصف الوظيفي

About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

PDO Company is seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Production Technologist with proven expertise in advanced hydraulic fracturing operations for tight gas and HPHT reservoirs. This role is pivotal in designing and executing complex stimulation programs to unlock challenging reserves in both vertical and horizontal wells.

The successful candidate will bring deep experience in fracturing very tight sandstone formations with shale content and have a strong command of multi-stage fracturing (MSF) design and execution for extended reach horizontal wells. In addition, demonstrated experience in acid matrix stimulation is highly desirable, particularly for enhancing near-wellbore productivity where applicable. Expertise in fracture propagation control, near-wellbore modeling, frac fluid selection, and integration of geo-mechanical data is essential to optimize treatment placement and maximize reservoir contact.

The role also requires leadership in frac operations risk management, HSE assurance, and contractor/vendor performance control. Developing young engineers is a core accountability — the candidate will actively coach and transfer knowledge in hydraulic fracturing design, operational planning, execution oversight, and post-job analysis.

This position works closely with operations, well engineering, well services, and key vendors to deliver safe, efficient, and value-driven stimulation campaigns across exploration, frontier, and brownfield assets. You will also actively contribute to PDO’s technical focus groups to share learnings and advance best practices.

Education & Experience

•University degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent technical discipline.

•Minimum 10 years of Petroleum Engineering experience, with a proven track record in complex hydraulic fracturing operations across HPHT, tight gas, and unconventional plays globally.

•Demonstrated expertise in horizontal well stimulation in very tight sandstone with shale content.

•Strong command of vertical and horizontal well fracturing, including multi-stage fracturing (MSF) design and execution for extended reach laterals.

•Proven experience in acid matrix stimulation for near-wellbore cleanup and productivity enhancement.

•Deep knowledge of fracture propagation modeling, near-wellbore modeling, frac fluid selection, and integration of geomechanics for treatment design and risk mitigation.

•Strong understanding of frac-pack and high-permeability stimulation where required.

•Demonstrated leadership in frac operations risk management, HSE compliance, and contractor/vendor performance control.

•Effective coach and mentor, with experience developing local/national engineers in fracturing and production technology.

•Skilled in risk-based decision making, hazard identification, and use of decision trees and risk registers.

•Strong leadership and collaboration skills to drive performance across multi-disciplinary teams.

Main Responsibilities

•Design and execute advanced hydraulic fracture stimulation programs for vertical and horizontal wells, including multi-stage fracturing (MSF).

•Deliver acid matrix stimulation programs where appropriate to improve near-wellbore deliverability.

•Develop and refine fracture propagation and near-wellbore models, dynamically tune treatments during execution to maximize effectiveness.

•Select optimal frac fluids, proppant systems, and treatment schedules tailored to formation characteristics.

•Integrate geo-mechanical data into stimulation design to optimize fracture placement and control risks.

•Develop conceptual and detailed completion designs aligned with fracturing requirements and well objectives.
•Prepare robust technical proposals for hydraulic fracturing, clean-outs, perforating, zonal isolation, well interventions, and cased hole logging.

•Perform nodal system analysis, tubing sizing, VLP/IPR studies, tubing stress and flow assurance assessments (using tools such as PROSPER, WellCat, Gohfer, FracPro, StimPlan).

•Identify and mature inflow/outflow improvement opportunities and debottlenecking initiatives from reservoir to stock tank.

•Plan, propose program and follow up well interventions and workovers as needed to maintain well integrity and production targets.

•Ensure all fracturing and related activities comply with company HSE standards and performance objectives.

•Actively coach and mentor less experienced engineers, building strong local capability in hydraulic fracturing design, planning, and execution.

•Engage closely with asset teams and stakeholders to capture lessons learned and implement continuous improvements in future fracturing campaigns.
