Job Description

Responsible for assisting in improving process and personal safety in accordance with the Upstream Safety Leadership Priorities to achieve the goal of "no accidents, no harm to people and no damage to the environment", investigating incidents, conducting inspections, and undertaking hazard assessments.
Acts as technical lead for the Investigative process with strong competence in the human performance field for the region, working with GOO, GWO and GPO. Advise and promote BP techniques for investigating the system factors contributing to error or non-conformance to challenge appropriate level of detail investigation, ensuing that HP is adequately addressed in investigations terms of reference. Ensure the communication, coaching, training on human performance principles and working to ensure these principles are embedded in the Region.
Maintains the investigative procedures and guidance for the Region in conformance to GDP4.4 including strong interface with the IRIS system procedures.
Establishes and maintains systems to ensure Investigations are properly documented, reported and action items are accepted. Continually challenge investigation teams to promote the hierarchy of controls with resulting investigation actions. Ensures that systems are established and maintained to track the progress of investigations and a Quality Assurance system is operated to sample the quality of completed investigations.
Reviews incident trends to identify activities or opportunities to improve the investigative process, to better categorise incidents, help identify emerging themes and utilises the feedback to further build the capability of local investigators.
Provides input to HSE and other operational procedures/programmes, hazard identification, promotional activities and training as appropriate to stimulate HSE awareness, improvement and learning to continuously improve HSE and business performance.
Consults /coaches and trains Skilful investigators, 5 Why Investigators and the relevant workforce on the investigation process and its outputs.
Develops insights from safety metrics analysis and feeds these into the Learning process. Identifies region based HSE work programmes in conjunction with Site HSE Advisors and operational managers to utilise the learning from incidents.
Drive driving Continuous Improvement (CI) of Incident Investigation processes, training and supporting tools in the Region.

Skills Required

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Safety/engineering / sciences
NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
Chartered status of IOSH status or equivalent. (Within two years achieves)
Applicable Contractor Accountable Manager Module
Skilled Investigator working towards Master
Applicable FLL (Front Line Leader) modules
Human Performance Excellence Roadmap Stage 1 & 2
Minimum 10 years operational experience in Oil and Gas or another high hazard industry.
Technical knowledge and experience in hazard identification, with detailed knowledge of HSE practices
and procedures and advising and analysing incident investigations and trend analysis.
Participation in eXcellence programme.
Experience with SMS / HSSE MS Auditing
Excellent interpersonal skills with proven success working with multi-disciplinary teams
Self-motivation and ability to work efficiently within a team environment
