Job Description

Job Title:Senior Process Optimization Engineer,Department:NGLE Operations,Job Purpose:Leads, plans, organizes and provide engineer support on process optimization services at NGLE under Manager Technical Support Services scope; trough (1) Leading the development initiatives for all petrochemical processes with in-depth analysis of the NGLE plant operation (both technical & processes) and providing timely technical solutions to improve gross margins, (2) Leading the resolution of complex operational problems in NEGL areas (from Crude Distillation, RFCC Delayed Cocker, hydro Processing, Kerosene Merox, Platformer /CCR, Hydro treatment Units, Isomerization, Naphtha Splitter to Sulphur Recovery Unit), and (3) Coordinate team to ensure that Optimization process Services meets Technical Management strategy and performance goals; in order to ensure the service targets are achieved efficiently and to optimum standards. Engineer Process Optimization Services will act in accordance with NGLE's values & strategies, policies, guidelines, technology platform, HSE standards, Omani's government & other legal justification's, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives and Ethics standards.,Roles and Responsibilities:Process Optimization Services, Deliverables  Provide process technology support to internal clients (operations, engineering, corporate planning and OMT mgmt.) to reduce operational cost of the refinery using optimization tools and solving technical problems to improve availability of plants and to recommend purchases of catalysts and chemicals  Provide performance reports of plants, on plant utilization and availability, and systems regularly to senior management and internal clients like corporate planning and finance in order to be aware of performance and allow management to take proactive and prompt decisions  Develop short and long term assets improvement plants with support from engineering and projects to improve reliability and profitability of NGLE plants  Make recommendations based on analysis and design of processes by taking into account market dynamics in order to improve yields, margins and profitability  Provide good forums to transfer knowledge between teams so that there is a culture of continuous improvement which maximises performance and profits  Provide guidance to the operating team on daily and longer terms operating strategies in order to ensure that all staff is able to complete their tasks and responsibilities  Provide technical and process support by ensuring the team is capable and available to requests in order to sustain the unit operations and also support other internal clients like maintenance, projects, engineering, laboratory, inspection departments  Use process simulation tools, provide inputs on product yields and suitability of imported feeds in order to supply departments with appropriate products/ services and to maximise profits ultimately creating high business impact  Carry out techno-commercial evaluations and select most optimum catalysts and chemicals for various reaction units in order to maximise long term benefits of the unit operations  Optimise unit operations and parameters to get maximum yield of high value products and minimise low value products by using tools like PI, LIMS as well as experience  Carry out energy optimization of units by reviewing reports against targets in order to reduce energy related OPEX and to reduce environmental foot print  Execute trouble shooting of plant related problems by using advance problem solving tools, techniques and experience in order to improve the plant assets reliability  Initiate and monitor new projects, plant changes, modifications, improvements based on market conditions and future requirements in order to improve plant performance and to achieve completion of project on time Lead incident investigations by using root cause analysis and other techniques to avoid reoccurrence of incidents and to ensure safe and reliable plant operations  Lead technical interactions with licensors, catalysts/ chemical suppliers and customers to address aspects such as improvements, catalyst problem solving in order to continuously optimise plant performance  Provide support to various process safety activities like HAZOP (Hazards and Operability) review, SIL (Safety Integrity Level) study and QRA (Qualitative Risk Analysis) studies so that processes are reviewed continuously and optimise.

Skills Required

Qualifications:  Minimum Qualifications for this position is degree in Chemical Engineering or similar. Knowledge:  Minimum six years of relevant experience in a similar role.  Minimum 10 years of experience in downstream field experience in petrochemical site  Experience in Refinery / Petrochemical industry in particular in Aromatics and Polymer process and operation (minimum of 10 years)  Experience in leading and managing people  Knowledge of root cause analysis and other problem solving techniques  Knowledge of PI and LIMS tools Skills:  Problem solving skills and ability to apply techniques for problem solving in real life Technical Competencies:  Analytical thinking  Business acumen  Forward thinking  Decisiveness  Results orientation  Planning and organisation  Developing others  Fostering teamwork  Persuasive communication  Building collaborative relationship  Exercising influence  Troubleshooting
