Job Description

 

The Geophysical advisor will be responsible to provide geophysical interpretation support for OMN subsurface and exploration including special geophysical studies (Structure interpretation, attribute extraction, modeling, etc.). The successful candidate should have a keen desire to creatively apply new and off the shelf technologies and workflows to reservoir characterization. Furthermore, he/she shall ensure the quality and level of Geophysical interpretation throughout Oxy Oman continues to improve through close collaboration with the geophysicists in various teams.

 

The Geophysical advisor responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensure appropriate geophysical interpretation workflows are followed and products are integrated in all projects.
  • Stricture interpretation of complex reservoirs.
  • Seismic attributes analysis.
  • Able to relate geophysical interpretation to geology.
  • QA/QC of seismic data and propose seismic reprocessing projects.
  • Ensure seismic acquisition and processing meets requirements for seismic interpretation.
  • Mentoring of young geophysicists.

Skills Required

Other Job Details

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum of 12 years of industry experience in geophysics.
  • Skilled in derivation of rock physics relationships.
  • Skilled in capturing and communicating uncertainty in results.
  • Experience using Landmark software and Petrel.
  • Extensive experience in the identification and utilization of seismic attributes to identify reservoir quality.
  • Skilled in ensuring consistency between reservoir models and seismic.
  • Knowledgeable about impact on amplitude fidelity of seismic acquisition and processing steps.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information.
