Job purpose


Provide strong technical and technology expertise within OQ relating to the execution of Telecom concepts, studies, engineering’s, designs and projects under Manager Control, Automation & Telecom’ scope and in agreement with Lead Engineering, Business Opportunity Manager, and the asset owners and per applicable standards and procedures. Support the new projects in OQ by (1)  Providing technical support to business/ project developments in the Upstream, Pipelines, Infrastructure, sectors, (2)  Works with stakeholders  and the Asset Owners for the analysis and development of tools and methods to improve the efficiency and quality of work performed by the Project and Delivery teams, (3)  Recommend business winning strategies for Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design and execution for rolled-over projects; in order to ensure the satisfactory execution of all projects within Project Delivery by achieving the company and project’s HSSE& S and technical quality requirements within agreed budgets and schedules.


The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in accordance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities


  • Gather information and Execute technical design work on studies and project deliverables.    
  • Act in a technical reference to bring out the best analysis and operational project approaches to deliver the technical requirements. 
  • Analyses and execute the engineering design of telecommunication for all projects, under the supervision of the Engineering N-5 C&A.
  • Analyses technical accuracy, quality, and economy of telecommunication engineering applications design for projects.
  • Analyses the progress of Telecommunication projects, under the supervision of the N-5 C&A including:
  • Security and access control system
  • Premier Intruder Dedication System
  • CCTV System
  • Public Address and General Alarm System
  • Digital Mobile Radio and TETRA Systems
  • Local Area Network and Wide Area Network
  • Fibre Optic Backbone and all relation installation tools and methods
  • Interfaces between all the above systems and applications
  • Telephone system and cabling methodologies


  • Liaise with Vendor’s technical pears and other departments on specific technical matters relating to Telecommunication applications design for assigned projects. 
  • Ensure that Company Safety and Quality Control Procedures are followed during the execution of all contracts and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all design work.
  • Prepare the necessary documentation for assigned projects, establishing primary methods and data as necessary, and ensure the selection of the optimum Telecommunication design from both technical and economic standpoints. 
  • Execute the design methods, standards, and data according to Asset Owners requirements and those issued by the Centre of Excellence. as well as international standards and specifications and local regulatory requirements
  • Support the preparation of presentations of information, the scope of Telecommunication applications works, and project execution strategy for proposals. Participate in discussions at the concept stage with Asset Owners to assist the definition of the scope of work and project execution tactics.
  •  Provide input for the preparation of Telecommunications and Operations Philosophy document incorporating user requirements.
  •  Identify specific gaps in existing practices and tools and manage the process of developing new practices or toolkit items that enhance OQ technological offering.
  • Participate pre and post contract award in discussions with Asset Owners to assess and assist in the definition of user requirements. 
  • Ensure the preparation of the Process Control and Operations Philosophy document incorporating user requirements.
  • Provides the Telecommunications Engineering Deliverables and participate in project reviews and workshops
  • Participate in solving, telecommunications engineering challenges that are recognized during the development of the Front-End Package, detailed engineering, and commission stage.
  • Support the development of fresh graduate engineers by providing input for the preparation of material for training courses. 
  • Keep informed and resolve specific technical challenges in Telecommunication applications on all projects in coordination with the relevant telecommunication team in Projects.

Education requirements

Minimum qualification for this position is a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or related.

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)  Arabic - Native (desirable)
