The Drilling Analytics Specialist is responsible for delivering complete, comprehensive drilling benchmarking and performance analysis, ensuring quality data management, and that performance records are current and concise. The Drilling Analytics Specialist directly supports the Drilling Engineering and Drilling Operations staff and provides supervision and guidance to Drilling Technologists. The Drilling Analytics Specialist is also the Business Unit focal point for OpenWells and Drilling Data Analytics CoP. The Drilling Analytics Specialist has oversight of the benchmarking process and collation of drilling data.
The Drilling Analytics Specialist responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Write advanced SQL queries to retrieve data from EDM databases and utilize this data to create visualizations/reports in SSRS, SpotFire and Power BI.
Writes scripts to overwrite or patch data in test and live EDM databases as required.
Creates business solutions with MS Power Platform: Power Automate, Power Bi, Power Apps, SharePoint. MS Power Platform certifications are beneficial.
Modify or introduce new sections in OpenWells to meet the department’s needs.
Ensures accurate performance metric data is collected, analyzed, and recorded diligently.
Leads the preparation of quarterly and annual drilling performance reports.
Provides quality data to Supply Chain and Drilling contract proponents for use at service quality meetings.
Assists Drilling Manager / Drilling Engineering Supervisor with regular reports/permits to other departments/external organizations (e.g. Ministry of Energy and Minerals).
Assists Drilling Engineers with compilation of end of well reports, creation of definitive surveys in Compass and proper application of tool codes.
Assists Drilling Engineers with analysis and post-well project evaluations.
Ensures data is validated for use in department performance presentations.
Assists with audit and records reconciliation requests.
Interacts with other MENA and Oxy US Counterparts to ensure consistency in data acquisition and reporting.
Bachelor’s Degree.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in information technology
Advanced skills in SQL code, Oracle database, SSRS and SpotFire
Advanced knowledge in SQL database and can write executable scripts to update the database.
Proficient with MS Power Platform: Power Automate, Power BI, Power Apps. MS Power Platform certifications are beneficial.
Good analytical skills and affinity to further develop them.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Applications – MS Office, and MS Power Platform)
Ability and commitment to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and communicate with others, including drilling peers and cross-functional team members.
Proficient organizational and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects at the same time.
Experience working with Drilling / Well Services data analysis or related fields preferred
Experience with Landmark EDM Database for Open Wells, Data Analyzer, and Compass preferred
