Job Description
•Perform comprehensive Integrated Petrophysical and Geomechanical studies to support and improve reservoir characterization and well performance, working closely with geoscientists and engineers
•Contribute to all stages of petrophysical and formation evaluation project work including data quality analysis, data preparation, pre-processing, data filtering / augmentation, environmental corrections, routine Logging While Drilling and Wireline log data corrections, alignment, editing and splicing.
•Build and implement robust, integrated formation evaluation workflows for highly heterogeneous fractured carbonate, unconventional and conventional reservoirs.
• Evaluate available well data such as well-logs, core, and test data to enable the creation of detailed 3D reservoir models with the focus on fluid properties and to create detailed unconventional petrophysical models to understand and improve petrophysical properties of zones of interest in oil unconventional plays.
•Carry out integrated (core-log) and detailed resource assessments of unconventional and heavy oil resources.
•Conduct petrophysical data analysis, saturation height modeling for input to reservoir models, distribution of reservoir properties, rock typing, calculation of volumetrics, and rock mechanical/physics and net pay.
•Provide quantitative reservoir description in complex lithologies, characterize conventional & unconventional resources, and develop/improve techniques for formation evaluation from cores and cuttings; geo-mechanical modelling - log-derived mechanical properties, formation testing, and core measurements.
•Work in an integrator across disciplines for projects to ensure they are matured effectively in an integrated manner across all subsurface disciplines as well as with wells and surface.
•Provide petrophysical support for completion of unconventional and heavy oil plays during the appraisal phase as results will be critical input to their FDP studies.
• Designing data acquisition programs (core-log) in support of better reservoir and associated fluids understanding/characterisation, and later evaluation and integration including open hole logging, LWD/MWD, coring, hydrocarbon sampling.
•Propose and plan RCA and SCAL programmes as required.
•Maintain good data management practices, consistent with company policy, focusing on data integrity and on support for the entire subsurface team.
•Contribute to the identification and maturation of hydrocarbon opportunities.
•Provide petrophysical support and multi-well analysis for Opportunity Generation; geological modeling; and region-, basin-, and field-scale prospectivity assessments
•Provide sufficient petrophysical inputs to Rock Physics workflows for integration with geophysical modelling.
•Improve and streamline (where appropriate) petrophysical workflows within the company.
•Provide petrophysical training and mentoring
Skills Required
•Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent science. An advanced degree is preferred
•Over 15 years of extensive experience with predominantly E&P operators, with a focus on challenging petrophysical issues within highly heterogeneous sandstone, fractured carbonate, and unconventional reservoirs (tight sands /tight carbonate) – preferably with experience from the Middle East region as well as other parts of the world.
•Expertise in advanced petrophysical methods and technology: Carbonate petrophysics, unconventional resources, Image logging and integration, well and reservoir management and surveillance logging, production logging, cased hole logging, understanding of fluid properties and dynamics, fractures and faults systems, and risk and uncertainty analysis and volumetric estimates.
•Conducted multiple Petrophysical studies and built fully integrated Petrophysical reservoir models for multiple Clastic and Carbonate reservoir/fields across multiple regions.
•Expertise in ensuring petrophysical properties get appropriately represented and QA/QC’ed in static and dynamic reservoir models.
•Extensive experience in acquiring and applying core-derived petrophysical properties, especially from tight sand/carbonate cores.
•Skilled in calibrating petrophysical analysis with core, production data, WRM data and reservoir analogues. Proven ability to establish multi-well, field-wide models that are integrated with geological, seismic and dynamic data.
•Experienced in identifying key reservoir properties that impacts development decisions, developing fit-for-purpose data acquisition programmes and establishing their value of information.
•Proficiency in design, acquisition and interpretation of advanced logging acquisition, including NMR, ECS, ADT, cement bond, dipole sonic.
•Expertise in saturation height modelling using both logs and capillary pressure data and an integrated understanding of fluid fill history.
•Expertise in seismic-petrophysics/rock physics modelling and geomechanics.
•Expertise in fracture carbonate log analysis (FMI & sonic) to identify fracture directions, fracture porosity, fracture density & fracture aperture.
•Hands on experience with advanced log analysis software (Techlog preferred).
•Strong scripting and data analytics abilities for workflow development and managing subsurface property uncertainties.
•Strong experience in managing integrated projects across reservoir modelling, wells and surface. Ability to establish optimal development strategies from a portfolio of opportunities and options and ensuring team efforts are focused on places of highest impact. Effective communicator across disciplines as well as to upper management.
•Proven leadership in coaching, mentoring, and guiding junior staff, promoting skill development and knowledge transfer.
