Job Description
•Undertake reservoir geological characterization and modelling studies for heterogeneous reservoir, unconventional and fractured carbonate reservoirs to high technical standards by conducting a systematic and an integrated reservoir study using sedimentology, facies, seismic information and petrophysical data to understand reservoir compartmentalization, distribution, reservoir heterogeneities, properties, quality, architecture, and hydrocarbon distribution to define integrated (re)development opportunities and provide accurate resource assessments.
•Participating in reservoir characterization studies and reservoir properties prediction/mapping following up the interpretation of all available data to identify sweet reservoir spots for better well placement.
• Carry out tight sand and tight carbonate reservoir characterization and generate and interpret fit-for-purpose geological models for reservoir characterization, field development plan and hydrocarbon in place assessment by integrating sedimentology, petrophysics and geomechanics as well as drilling, stimulation, and production data.
• Through property modelling and uncertainty evaluation, assist in generating realistic base case forecasts and forecast envelopes capturing the impact of risks and/or uncertainties.
• Participate in improving company best practice approaches in geological modelling and reservoir characterization.
• Developing and maintaining detailed stratigraphic interpretations, cross-sections, maps, and models of targeted reservoir sequences.
• Assess, plan, and design geological data acquisition such as coring and open hole logging by identifying value of information and existing geological uncertainty to better understand the field and reservoir and reduce/manage geological uncertainties for optimum field evaluation, development plan and reservoir management plan.
•Assure quality of L, M, H case maps for reasons of volume determination.
•Support resource and reserves estimation, risk, and uncertainty assessments, contribute to internal reserve assessments in compliance with SPE guidelines & PRMS.
•Coach and mentor younger geologists.
Skills Required
•University degree in Geology or related science; advanced degrees are preferred.
•Over 20 years of extensive experience predominantly with E&P operators, with a focus on complex geological challenges within heterogeneous and unconventional reservoirs (tight sands /tight carbonates). – preferably with experience from the Middle East region as well as other parts of the world.
•Expertise in reservoir characterization and reservoir modelling with in depth expertise of 3D modelling techniques.
•skilled in developing, maintaining, and evaluating large-scale and complex geological models using industry geological modelling software such as Petrel.
•Deep experience in regional to field-scale geological evaluations, integrating petroleum systems analysis aligned with industry best practices for development planning, optimization and operational efficiency.
• Extensive background in production geology, with a significant focus on integrated reservoir modelling and reservoir management of mature fields
• Proficient in interpreting, integrating, and applying geophysical, sedimentological, depositional environment data, petrophysics, geomechanics, and reservoir engineering fundamentals into cohesive models.
• Knowledge of reserves classification, estimation, and booking procedures ensuring compliance with industry standards
•Experience in Identification of infill and appraisal opportunities and cost optimization
•Extensive experience in leading and managing field development plan (FDP) & integrated reservoir modelling (IRM) projects, serving as an effective project integrator to align multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders. Ability to establish optimal development strategies from a portfolio of opportunities and options and ensuring team efforts are focused on places of highest impact
•Good behaviour skills; experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams; strong team player.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills
•Effective communicator and ability to think beyond geosciences discipline
•Proven leadership in coaching, mentoring, and guiding junior staff, promoting skill development and knowledge transfer
