About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

The Concept/Process Engineer (X cluster) is responsible for the feasibility, identify/ assess and select phases of engineering projects and for providing process engineering support for X - cluster Oman. He is directly accountable for :

  • The conceptual studies relating to Field Development Plans (FDP), Urban Plans / Asset Reference Plans (ARP), and Concept Selection Reports (CSR), covering development, integrity, infrastructure and HSE projects assigned to him in X- cluster.
  • Provision of process engineering support during the execution of the surface projects.
  • Budget planning and Program build activities for X - cluster
  • Special Trials and Studies co ordination with Function and/or Shell TSA
  • Operations support and optimization.

 

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering Discipline or Equivalent
  • Minimum 7 Years experience in engineering with an emphasis on multi-discipline, which a significant portion has been spent in the Process /Concept engineering activities in oil and gas E&P business /industry. Experience in Sour and gas process and treatment is added requirement
  • In-depth knowledge in engineering deliverables of Oil & Gas projects encompassing Development (both Green field and Brown field) integrity replacement, Process safety and Environmental projects. 
  • PC literate, good inter-personals, communication and expression skills.
  • Good spoken/written English.
  • Familiar with Company or Shell standards and guidelines.
  • Good analytical abilities and practical approach with business sense.
  • Strong personality and leadership skills
  • Ability to interface and network effectively within the discipline and with other disciplines across a wide range of organizational boundaries (Petroleum Engg, Exploration, Operations, Maintenance and Integrity line, Function, Project Engineering, HSE)
  • Team player, capable of offering guidance, coaching and mentoring to the team
  • Strategic thinker, able to leverage experience to improve performance of team.
  • Cost focused; business aware and looking for opportunities to reduce costs, increase efficiencies and utilize synergies with other departments.
  • Ability and exposure of risk assessment
  • Good knowledge on international standards; e.g. ASME, API, NACE etc.

 


 

Main Responsibilities

•    Contribute to Basis for Design (BfD), Basis of Design (BoD), and Project
•    Specifications/Philosophies.
•    Generate Process Simulation Models and prepare Heat & Material Balance Tables.
•    Develop Process/Utility Flow Schemes.
•    Develop Process/Utility Engineering Flow Schemes and Process Safeguarding Flow
•    Schemes.
•    Carry out Sizing for Process Equipment and Relief Valves.
•    Carry out Line Hydraulics and provide Inputs to Line Listing.
•    Follow Quality Management System (QMS) requirements in line with ISO 9001-2015.
•    Provide Process Inputs to:
•    Material Selection Report
•    Cause & Effect Diagrams and Alarm & Trip Setting.
•    Instrument Data Sheets.
•    Hazardous Area Classification Schedule.

•    Discipline Engineers
•    Responsible for obtaining As-Built information and providing solutions in the
•    absence of As-built information
•    Responsible for managing Technical Clarifications- on scope and needs.
•    Responsible for coordination with the asset teams for the information
•    Manage all technical changes internally and obtaining approval from Discipline
•    Leads (HOD).
•    Responsible for Scope change confirmation (TIN)
•    Accountable for the Decision Making on changes
•    Mange all Assurance Reviews and action close outs
•    Accountable for Raising + Uploading +Liaising + Technical Variances
•    Responsible for approving TPS Final reports
