Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

Provide global best practices system engineering in Process Control Domain, installation, configuration, operation, support and maintenance of IM&T infrastructure. 

Education & Experience

Experience/Qualifications Needed
•    Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
•    A minimum of 4 years’ experience in Windows servers environment and Microsoft Active Directory
•    A minimum of 4 years’ experience in Windows Systems Engineering, installation, deployment, configuration, operations & maintenance.
•    A minimum of 4 years’ experience in IT systems engineering. 
•    Understanding of production engineering in an Oil & Gas company. Preferably working experience in operation or maintenance of OT environments. 
•    Experience in IT security and related management tools.
•    A minimum of 2 years’ experience in infrastructure planning and management, change management, networking, Data Storage 
•    Minimum 3 years’ experience in management/ Support of Citrix, Antivirus, Virtualisation and Patch management environments
•    Knowledgeable in Project management and Training skills, with coaching / mentoring capabilities.
•    Team player, strong interpersonal and communication skills, high level of customer orientation.
•    Customer focus and mind-set to deliver quality and pro-active service.
•    Broad IT knowledge of evolving technologies & architectures.
•    A good understanding of telecom and computing fundamentals and related maintenance practices.
 

Main Responsibilities

 

Plan Operational & Systems Engineering Activities

•    Execute the annual work plans for Systems Engineering specific activities 
•    Apply best practises in executing projects activities and manage the work in terms of planning & prioritising
•    Provide input to the identification/piloting of new computing infrastructure processes and procedures against clear improvement objectives, within agreed time scales, resources and budget & analyse and evaluate pilot feedback.
•    Contribute and manage the planning of computing infrastructure fallback processes, services and procedures as well as plans for regular testing of same. 
•    Provide input to the plan for the integrated computing asset integrity programme comprising preventive maintenance of all key computing assets.
•    Contribute to the process to ensure that computing infrastructure roadmaps are in place and are in line with business demands and growth
•    Contribute to the process to ensure that computing infrastructure capacity planning is in place for the designated services in order to meet the long term business plans by conducting utilization monitoring and producing trends analysis reports.
•    Plans computing infrastructure fall-back systems and services and carries out periodic  testing and  review of business continuity plans
•    Execute computing infrastructure implementation projects
Operate, Monitor & Review Infrastructure

•    Build and configure Windows infrastructure according to PDO and group standards and comply with PDO’s change management process when changing production environment.
•    Contribute and manage the process for the execution of systems engineering annual work plans with particular emphasis on preventive maintenance as well as the testing of disaster recovery plans.
•    Monitor, review and report on Infrastructure Integrity and Capacity vis-à-vis known business requirements.
•    Monitor and report on systems engineering team performance vis-à-vis Service Level Agreements (OLA,SLA), HSE plans, KPI’s and KBA’s.
•    Contribute and manage the process for the proactive periodic Infrastructure vulnerability assessment.
•    Contribute and manage the process for driving the realisation of asset and process improvements initiatives.
•    Contribute to the process for the management and reporting on the systems engineering associated budget performance.
•    Execute infrastructure systems engineering best practices to keep alignment with technology development, global initiatives and importantly with business needs and growth.
•    Creates, maintains and updates technical documentation and procedures for efficient system administration
•    Patch managements, Software evaluation and deployment, Hardware evaluation and selection, Windows desktop and server imaging, System monitoring and tuning, System troubleshooting , Understand and implement system security.

HSE Management

•    Contribute to the process to ensure compliance with responsibilities and accountabilities summarised in the HSE Policy, Commitment and Accountabilities booklet (the latest version)
•    Ensures delivery against organization information risk compliance, Health , Safety and Environment guidelines and as per defined IT Service Management policy, processes and procedure
