Job purpose

Apply reservoir engineering & Simulation to the subsurface development by (1) Conducting workflows pertaining to reserves maturation, well testing, field development planning update reservoir management strategies, (2)  Monitor a range of activities, including well surveillance, fluid sampling, well testing and completion operations, (3)  Work and support with multi-disciplinary team to apply reservoir-engineering practices to reservoir management, well test design and analysis, reservoir simulation, reserves evaluation & estimation, and (4) Directing lab workflows, managing lab data, working PVT data analysis (with internal and external PVT reports), developing EoS models & BOT, developing final report, and presenting post project reviews with BUs.

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

 

  • To provide robust reservoir engineering duties to the subsurface development department in areas of field development, planning and well & reservoir management.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary team to apply reservoir-engineering practices to reservoir management, well test design and analysis, reservoir simulation, reserves evaluation & estimation.
  • Provide necessary input to drilling, facilities, and other groups as required to support projects
  • Analyse and interpret information from the field using suitable reservoir engineering tools such as well test evaluation programs or reservoir simulation software for making recommendations aiming at optimizing production and supporting field development
  • Participate in integrated field studies for maturing hydrocarbon resources
  • Document results in a comprehensive and understandable format, both in written and in graphic forms.
  • Provide RE input to business planning, reserve evaluation and well proposals
  • Support uncertainty analysis studies and value of information assessments for data acquisition plans
  • Conduct workflows pertaining to reserves maturation, well testing and field development planning

Education requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) - Arabic - Native (desirable)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

 

  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Reservoir Engineering within Oil & Gas industry
  • Proficiency in industry standard reservoir engineering packages such as Kappa Saphire, OFM, Eclipse
  • Experience with reservoir management
  • Experience with reservoir simulation
  • Good understanding of production operations and completion procedures
  • Experience in tight gas reservoirs is a “plus”
  • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary team role

 

Soft

  • Leading multidisciplinary integrated teams and contribution to exploration opportunity risking and ranking.
  • Has participated or contributed to technical reviews, audits and preparation of Field Development Plans
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task while maintaining priorities

 

Technical:

  • Computer literacy including MS Office
