Job purpose

Responsible for providing engineering support and services associated with the related activities under the authority of the Head of Technical Support. Accountable for leading the design of mechanical rotating support services using best practices, coordinating and supervising rotating assets and maintenance work in the assigned area, and overseeing the implementation and coordination of maintenance tasks with designated staff or external contractors. Ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency to meet the environmental, health and safety requirements for the operations plants.

 

The position will act by the organization’s mission, vision, values, policies, and guidelines, supported by an IT technology platform, HSE standards, Oman government and other legal justifications and best international practices aligned with National objectives.

Mandate QHSSE Obligations

  • Ensure incorporation of safety requirements into contract document to meet HSE Vision
  • Participate in safety assessments and audits of contractors and monitor their performance and compliance.
  • Guided, advised, communicated, and enforced safe behavioural practices (Life Saving Rules, Process Safety Rules) to perform tasks safely

Main tasks and responsibilities

Day-to-day Operations 

  • Provide strong engineering support for rotary machinery and gas turbines to ensure high levels of reliability and availability.
  • Allocate work orders and facilitate planning for the section's activities.
  • Coordinate and perform all engineering rotating tasks needed for optimal equipment operation.
  • Ensure repairs meet standards and manufacturer procedures.
  • Coordinate and execute gas turbine maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Update maintenance history and reports for rotating equipment in SAP (CMMS).
  • Ensure the availability of special tools, materials, and skilled manpower for planned and corrective repairs.
  • Attend daily meetings and coordinate with Operations, TSD, Planning, HSE, and other departments for complex maintenance activities.
  • Ensure planned maintenance activities are carried out as scheduled with the necessary resources.
  • Develop and implement solutions to maintenance processes to detect, understand, and mitigate risks of failure.
  • Identify critical issues and repetitive failures, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and ensure recommendations are implemented.
  • Initiate proactive maintenance tasks to maximize equipment performance.
  • Assist in RCA for repeated failures or rework and file failure reports.
  • Follow up on material requisitions, conduct troubleshooting, and manage SAP notifications for rotating equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure activities are cost-effective, prioritize maintenance work, and maintain inventories of critical spare parts.
  • Update maintenance progress and contractor performance, prepare procurement plans, and reports on equipment performance.

Working Conditions

Primarily office-based, occasional travel, and sporadic visits to the operation site.

Education requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.

Language

Preferable English and Arabic

Experience and background

From 5 to 8 years of experience in process optimization, gas compression, transportation, reduction and process control.
