Job purpose

Execute and operate the instrument maintenance operations activities assigned within the designated area under the authority of the Supervisor Instrument. Responsible for ensuring the integrity of facilities, providing technical operational support and analysis while maintaining the instrument operations expenditures. Responsible for maximizing plant operational efficiency, reliability, and safety to meet the requirements and needs of respective business stakeholders.

 

The position will act as the organization’s mission, vision, values, policies, and guidelines, supported by an IT technology platform, HSE standards, Oman government and other legal justifications and best international practices aligned with national objectives.

Mandate QHSSE Obligations

  • Ensure compliance with the HSE Management System.
  • Monitor and report safety performance and compliance.
  • Guide, advise, communicate, and enforce safe behavioural practices (Life Saving Rules, Process Safety Rules) to perform tasks safely.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Accountable for the availability of instrumentation, analyzers, control systems, and communication systems in the area, ensuring best work practices in maintenance.
  • Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate, and test various industrial instruments such as control valves, transmitters, DCS, Fire and Gas Systems, ESD systems, and pressure controls.
  • Maintain all instrumentation drawings in ‘as-built’ condition and ensure any modifications are reflected accurately.
  • Report any failures of safety-critical elements as per OQ standards and oversee the instrumentation side of project implementations in assigned facilities.
  • Implement the Preventive Maintenance (PM) plan, manage work backlogs, and participate in HAZID, HAZOP, and Design Reviews for new projects in the gas network.
  • Prepare procurement plans and manage the LLF of instruments, participating in Management of Change (MOC) committee reviews.
  • Ensure that instrumentation maintenance history and reports are updated in SAP (CMMS) and address critical issues and repetitive failures by implementing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) recommendations.
  • Monitor staff attendance and performance, implement discipline, and prepare annual leave plans.
  • Supervise and control all work related to instrument maintenance and calibration and analyze periodic maintenance reports to improve section efficiency.
  • Provide technical and manpower support during plant shutdowns and determine long-term instrument maintenance policies and detailed planning of maintenance activities.
  • Review warehouse materials and spare parts policies, ensuring effective handling, procurement, and availability.
  • Coordinate the development of maintenance guidelines, specifications, and best practices for various instruments, maintain technical expertise, and ensure alignment with best practices, including updating SAP master data, drawings, and maintenance plans.

Education requirements

Diploma Degree or equivalent.

Language

Preferable English and Arabic

Experience and background

  • From 3 to 5 years of experience in operations and maintenance preferably in the oil and gas sectors.
