About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

The candidate will be required to organize, manage and execute quantity surveying activities contributing to contracting tactics development, involvement in tender preparation, evaluation and contractor selection, performing post-contract valuation of work and settling of final accounts. The role will involve estimating, quantification and progressive valuation of work done and of change when compared against plan, influencing demand and specifications, and resolution of disputes in a principled manner while protecting the Company’s interests and preserving contract value.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics or
  • equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in oil & gas or primary industry.
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or the Chartered
  • Institute of Procurement and Supply) an advantage.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain HSE as first priority through compliance to PDO house rules, PDO HSE Golden Rules and PDO Life Saving Rules.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy and the Company’s General Business Principles.
  • To declare any Conflicts of Interest.
  • Safeguard Company Interest.
  • ISAT & Information Technology Proficiency & Compliance
  • Preparation of cost estimates at the different stages of project design and execution
  • Post-contract management and reporting of expenditure
  • Working to an appropriate cost allocation system and tracking of expenditure over the life of the Work
  • Measurement and appropriate valuation of various construction works
  • Assisting in post-award administration of the Contract in accordance with its terms and conditions from commencement to final completion and close-out
  • Maintain good office administration / filing system
  • Management of SAP for technical & financial support of Purchase Order payments in line with Company’s procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of the QS role and its function in the organisation including the expectations of it
  • Support and coach less experienced Quantity Surveyors and all relevant stakeholders to help in development of in-house talent to enable to meet current and future challenges
  • Advice and drive of the risks to Health, Safety and to the Environment that are typical to the industry and of the behaviours and controls necessary to mitigate them
